Disabilities
The Home Heat Helpline advisors are specially trained to offer advice and help to disabled people.

If you are disabled you are eligible to be added to your supplier's Priority Services Register, something our advisors can provide more information on.

You may be eligible to access additional services without charge and these could include:
Free annual gas safety check of all gas appliances, the landlord is responsible by law for carrying out this check.
Password scheme - Suppliers will provide a password that will be used when the supplier sends someone to visit a customer's home.
Suppliers will provide bills and meter readings in Braille or large print or on audio tape.
Quarterly meter readings  - the energy company will provide a meter reading service on a quarterly basis if no one in the household is able to read the meter themselves
Move the meter to make it easier to read  - normally this service is free of charge. Sometimes however if a lot of work is required , the supplier may ask you to pay for the meter move
Provide easy to use controls and adaptors
Bill nominee scheme - Customers who have difficulty reading or checking their bill, can nominate a friend, relative or carer to receive a copy direct from the supplier
